Cellarperson

This position is responsible for cellaring operations and general support to the brewery team.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Transfer and cellar beer.
  • Check gravities.
  • Dispose of yeast.
  • Clean, sanitize and purge tanks according to set standards. Clean tank exteriors regularly.
  • Clean and organize all pumps, keg station, packaging line, walk-in cooler, and any other components as needed
  • Cleaning and filling kegs, preparing packaging materials, and assisting on the packaging line.
  • Fermenter and plate heat exchanger cleaning and sanitation.
  • Operate kegging, bottling, and canning equipment.
  • Perform basic and preventative maintenance on BOH and brewery equipment as assigned.
  • Assist brewers with brewhouse operations, when needed.
  • Safety and Security – Reports potentially unsafe conditions; Uses equipment and materials properly.
  • Ensure workspace is free of debris and remove safety hazards from aisles.
  • Maintain all BOH in a tidy state and clear away material and debris.

Skills & Qualifications

  • Cellar, Canning, and bottling line experience preferred.
  • 25+ Years of Age.
  • Able to maneuver and operate a forklift and pallet jack.
  • Possess some mechanical aptitude.
  • Pays attention to details and has a positive “can-do attitude”.
  • Is able to work unsupervised.
  • Strong work ethic and full commitment to quality production of beer.
  • Drivers license and clean driving record.
  • Willingness to help in other areas of the business as needed.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of beer and a good sense of smell, skill distinguishing flavors and colors in beer.
  • Good communication skills and the ability to work as part of a team.
  • Responsible, reliable, and honest.
  • The ability to work a flexible schedule including occasional early mornings, late evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • Good general math.
  • Ability to read, write and communicate in English.

  • Continually lift, drag, carry and manipulate hoses, parts, pumps, buckets and reservoirs.
  • This position may come into direct contact with hazardous materials such as chemicals, noise, and equipment. Hazardous materials include CO2 as well as loud noises as part of the brewing process.
  • Lift heavy items and unload equipment onto or off of vehicles.
  • Physically able to stand, sit, bend, twist, kneel, squat, walk, and climb during the course of the shift. 
  • Physically able to lift up to 160 pounds or more.
  • Ability to work under a variety of conditions, including cold temperatures for extended periods of time.
